Bristol, Va. inmate identified after sudden death Friday

The Bristol, Virginia Sheriff’s Office tells News Channel 11 the investigation into an inmate’s death is continuing this weekend. 

According to the sheriff’s office, the Bristol Lifesaving Crew and Bristol Virginia Fire Department responded to their jail around 8:30 a.m. Friday to an inmate having an “unknown medical emergency.” 

Deputies say immediate medical attention was given and the inmate was transported to the Bristol Regional Medical Center, where he later passed away. 

Bristol, Virginia Sheriff Dave Maples identifies the inmate as Jeremiah Wilson.

Foul play is not an expected cause of death. 

The Bristol Virginia Police Department is handling the investigation.
