Investigators with the Bristol, TN Police Department say a man faces several charges after attempting to leave the scene of a crime and injuring an officer.
In a press release issued to News Channel 11, investigators say Christopher Wayne Palmer faces charges of felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, failure to stop for a stop sign.
Investigators say they received a call of “possible drug activity” taking place in the parking lot of a business on Bellebrook Road last night. Officers say they located a vehicle and started to question Palmer, who was seated in a passenger seat.
Officers say the man then slid into the drivers and put the stopped car into gear. The officer attempted to stop him as the car drove down an embankment and through two fences. When the car struck the fence, the officer fell out of the vehicle.
According to investigators, the officer was able to deploy his taser, but Palmer was able to get the car into gear again drove down Bellebrook Road at a high rate of speed.
Police say he was unable to control his vehicle and crashed into a bank on Bellebrook Road/Weaver Pike.
Palmer reportedly attempted to leave the scene, again, but was unable too, according to police.
Investigators say Palmer received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The officer was not injured.
