A management firm could be taking over the Elizabethton Twins Minor League Baseball team.

Jeremy Boler, vice president of Boyd Sports, confirmed to News Channel 11 that talks between the management firm and the City of Elizabethton are still ongoing.

The team is currently managed by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.

Talks intensified months ago but simmered down after the renegotiation of a contract started back up between the city and Minnesota Twins front office to keep the team in Elizabethton.

A deal was reached in October that would keep the Twins in the city for the foreseeable future.

Minnesota will contribute $800,000 toward upgrades at Joe O’Brien Field while the city is spending $1.5 million in bond funding.

The matter will be brought up during the City Council’s February meeting.

Updates on the potential management change will be announced in the coming months.
