Bourbon barrel-making company breaks ground in SWVA

SMYTH COUNTY, Va. (WJHL)- Speyside Bourbon Cooperage, Inc. is investing $35 million to create a bourbon barrel facility in Smyth County and a “stave mill” in Washington County.

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam said this will create 125 new jobs in Smyth County and 35 jobs in Washington County.

According to a news release, “Speyside Bourbon Cooperage, Inc. is an offspring of Speyside Cooperage Ltd., founded in Scotland in 1947.”
