BLUFF CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is investigating a crash involving several police officers in Bluff City.

According to the THP, the crash happened Wednesday night in the 4500 block of Bluff City Highway.

A Bluff City officer was traveling northbound on State Highway 390 at a high rate of speed while responding to a call, the report said. The vehicle then ran off the right side of the roadway and hit two utility poles, knocking both down and causing the power lines to fall into the roadway.

The officer was injured in the crash.

A Sullivan County deputy responded to this crash and stopped in the roadway with its emergency lights on.

When a second Sullivan County deputy was responding to the crash, it “failed to see [the second responding officer’s vehicle]” stopped in the roadway and rear-ended it, injuring the Sullivan County deputy.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident with possible pending charges, according to the report.
