Billy Graham’s grandson Will Graham to hold weekend Crusade in Johnson City

This weekend, a man named Graham will hold a Crusade in the Tri-Cities.

Two months after the death of world-famous evangelist Billy Graham, his grandson Will Graham will host a three day preaching event at Freedom Hall in Johnson City.

Like his grandfather and his father Franklin Graham, Will Graham is traveling the world preaching the message of The Bible.

Thursday, he told News Channel 11’s Josh Smith he was invited come to Johnson City to preach, but at first, it was an invitation he didn’t want to accept.

“I really didn’t want to come, and it’s just because it’s the Bible Belt.  But people in the Bible belt need Jesus,” Graham said.    “It doesn’t mean everyone here is a Christian in Johnson City, Bristol, and Kingsport.”

Graham said he also felt reluctant to come because the Tri-Cities are just over the mountain from Boone, North Carolina – the town where he grew up.   “Jesus said a prophet isn’t accepted in his hometown,” Graham said, laughing.

But after praying about it and seeing multiple congregations were committed to supporting an event, he and his team committed to holding the Tri-Cities Region Will Graham Celebration.

“A lot of people who call themselves Christians really aren’t,” Graham said.  “This is a great opportunity to come together as a group of people and churches in the community to preach the Gospel and give them an opportunity to make that decision for themselves.”

The Tri-Cities Region Will Graham Celebration will be held at Freedom Hall in Johnson City tomorrow and Saturday night at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m..

A “KidzFest” for children will be held Saturday at Freedom Hall starting at 9 a.m..  All events are free to the public.   Click HERE for a link to the schedule of events.

Will Graham talked about the recent death of his legendary grandfather and what it was like to mourn a family member along with strangers from around the world.

That report will air Friday on News Channel 11 at 6.
