Investigators believe a fire at a vacant house may be the result of arson.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to a structure fire at 3475 Gap Mountain Road around 9:15 p.m. Thursday.
A witness told deputies he saw a small fire at a house across the street and called 911. By the time the call was finished, the house was engulfed.
The house was vacant and did not have electricity, according to the sheriff’s department.
The owner told deputies they had recently purchased the property.
Investigators say the house had an estimated value of $20,000.
