Amy McAmis has spent nearly her entire life in Greene County. The North Greene graduate has beebn a teacher in the community she grew up in for the past 22 years. ABC Tri-Cities Kasey Marler tells us, her commitment makes her this week’s Educator of the Week.
Amy McAmis beams when she speaks of the impact she’s had on her community. She’s spent two decades in education teaching the
Kindergarten and first grade grades.
She’s the first grade teacher at Baileyton. A school she was once a student at, now the place she’s
worked for 17 years. She’s been recognized by her peers, but it’s most important to her that’s she is
recognized by her families and students. She’s says teaching is a total team effort. McAmis adds
she is demanding of her 17 students. And they respond. It’s the growth she sees in the students
that keeps er going year after year. “It’s amazing when they come in they are dependent on teachers. As
the year goes on the goal is to transfer that from I do, we do, to they do. They have to be pushed but
when that light bulb goes off that’s what it is all about,“ Said McAmis.
Congratulations to Amy McAmis. This week’s Educator of the week.
