4 charged for tire dumping in Washington County, Va.

Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman says four people have been charged with illegally dumping tires in the Mendota Community. 

According to Sheriff Newman, dispatch received calls reporting multiple tires laying in the roadway on Nordyke Road, Percheron Road, and Caney Valley Road. 

VDOT assisted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with the clean-up of approximately 160 tires. The cost of manpower and equipment from VDOT totaled $739.16. Additional costs are pending for Waste Management to dispose of the tires.

Following an investigation and anonymous tips, four suspects were identified. 

  • Brandon Matthew Castle, age 21, of 41 24th Street, Bristol, TN, has been charged with littering. Castle was issued a summons and is scheduled for a court hearing in the Washington County General District Court on, June 12, 2019.
  • Robert Kirk Fritts, age 23, of 404 Taylor Street, Bristol, TN, has been charged with littering. Fritts was issued a summons and is scheduled for a court hearing in the Washington County General District Court on, June 12, 2019.
  • Andrew Jeremy Self, age 18, of 11607 Goose Creek Road, Bristol, TN, has been charged with littering. Self was issued a summons and is scheduled for a court hearing in the Washington County General District Court on, June 12, 2019.
  • Alexis Jean Clark, age 19, of 216 Haddon Street, Bristol, VA, has been charged with littering. Clark was issued a summons and is scheduled for a court hearing in the Washington County General District Court on, June 12, 2019.
