The third fire in Unicoi County in 36 hours has left another local family without a home. The fire was reported Monday morning around 10:30 a.m. on Gleneffer Road off Zane Whitson Drive.

As of 4:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon, crews were still on the scene attempting to put our hotspots.

Unicoi Fire Department assistant chief Randall Oaks said one person was inside the home at the time, but they are now okay.

A Southside Volunteer firefighter, however, injured his hand in a hose malfunction. That firefighter was treated at Erwin Hospital and has been released.

The two-story home was destroyed, but the cause of it remains under investigation.

Oaks told News Channel 11, this is the third fire in Unicoi County. Another family is without a home after an early morning fire ripped through their home on Monday.

And on Sunday, fire damaged the old Wiseman’s Feed and Seed.
