First responders, family members and friends gathered at Central Church of Christ in Johnson City Friday morning to help send off 21 local veterans on their way to Washington, D.C.
This year’s group of veterans served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. It’s part of the 14th mission with Honor Flight of Northeast Tennessee.
The veterans will tour the monuments in Washington, D.C. on Saturday and stop at the D-Day Memorial on Sunday.
Honor Flight of Northeast Tennessee will return for a welcome home party for the veterans at the same church Sunday evening.
