CAMPBELLTON, Fla. (WJHL) — Authorities say two Tri-Cities teenagers who ran away from home were found after a crash in Florida on Tuesday.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation had previously issued an Endangered Child Alert for a 15-year-old girl from Gray and a 14-year-old boy from Kingsport.

Police said the duo had run away from home and were believed to be heading to Florida.

The Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the teenagers were located after they were involved in a crash in Jackson County, Florida.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report, the 14-year-old boy was driving at the time of the crash. The report states that he was turning right onto another road when he failed to stay in his lane and struck the front bumper of another vehicle that was stopped at the intersection.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said the two teenagers then ran away from the crash scene but a K-9 team found them in a field about two miles away.

The highway patrol charged the 14-year-old with leaving the scene of a crash with property damage and driving without a valid license, according to the report.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said the teens ran away from home in a vehicle belonging to a family member and that neither had a driver’s license.
