Local athletes compete in bowling at Special Olympics

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – The second of three bowling competition was held Friday at Holiday Lanes by the Special Olympics committee.High school athletes from areas around the region came together to compete in the competition. There were about a one hundred and twenty athletes that competed the organizations said that number grows larger every year.

“As we continue to grow we see more athletes joining Special Olympics every year I’m so so if we continue to grow and that’s that’s kind of one of our concerns is where are we gonna go when we outgrow this facility”, said Rachel Keller who is the co-director.The organizers said they could not put on events like this without the countless hours that the volunteers put in to make it all possible. The next event will be on November 4th and is for elementary and middle school athletes. If you or someone you know is interested in participating you can visit the Special Olympics website at http://www.specialolympicstn-area3.org/.
