KPD officers respond to car on fire at Fort Henry Drive gas station

KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – Kingsport Police Department officers responded to a vehicle fire Friday evening at a gas station on Fort Henry Drive.

According to a KPD news release, officers responded to the parking lot of Marathon Oil Convenience Store, 4121 Fort Henry Drive, parking lot around 6:30 p.m., where they made contact with a woman who said she left the post office on Fort Henry Drive driving her white 2015 Mercedes GL450 when she noticed smoke coming from the engine area.

The woman said she turned into the parking lot of Marathon and got out of her car.

She told police she saw flames coming from the engine and the fire quickly spread throughout the engine compartment and into the front of the vehicle.

Officers responded to the scene and put out of the fire.

The woman told police that she had her vehicle serviced at a local dealership and picked up the car earlier Friday.
