KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – Kingsport Police Department officers arrested three people following an investigation into an auto burglary on June 7.
According to a KPD news release, officers responded to investigate a report of people parked in a white 4-door sedan in the cul-de-sac of Chippendale Circle in the Amersham subdivision of the Ridgefields neighborhood in Kingsport.
Officers located the vehicle, as well as Roman J. Morris, 19, 1210 Reedy Place, Ryan W. Crawford, 22, 1210 Reedy Place and Dakota L. Williamson, 19, 842 Teasel Drive, in the area.
An investigation revealed that Morris, Crawford and Williamson drove to the neighborhood to break into vehicles.
An auto burglary victim was found and reported that her car had been rummaged through and a pair of prescription eye glasses had been taken.
Morris, Crawford and Williamson were each charged with auto burglary and taken to the Kingsport City Jail.
According to the release, Morris was found to be under the influence and was underage.
Kingsport detectives were also able to link the suspects to at least seven previously unsolved cases.
Police said approximately $50,000 in stolen property, as well as two vehicles, has been recovered.
The suspects were each additionally charged with theft over $10,000, identity theft and multiple additional counts of auto burglary.
Williamson was additionally charged with forgery.
Morris, Crawford and Williamson were being held in the Sullivan County jail.
Police said in every case of auto burglary by the suspects, the vehicle was left unlocked by the owner.
The cases where a vehicle was stolen, police said the key had been left in the vehicle by the owner.
