Jonesborough, TN (WJHL) – Jonesborough held its annual Veterans Day tribute Sunday afternoon at the visitor’s center in downtown.

Folks came out to show their appreciation for what they say is the reason that we are a free country today. People in attendance said that reason is all of the veterans that have fought to protect through all of the wars over the years.

“You don’t realize what veterans have to tolerate.” said Marion Light who is chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee.

“Not enough gratitude, in my opinion, is shown to veterans when they leave the military.”

The ceremony included a Presentation of the Colors by the Tennessee Highway Patrol Honor Guard and the Daniel Boones Marine JROTC, a performance by the Appalachian Express Chorus.

There was also a special part of the ceremony where the service members that lost their lives in Chattanooga were honored.Copyright 2015 WJHL. All Rights Reserved.
