Johnson City, TN (WJHL) – After the recent tragic events that took place in Orlando in the early hours of Sunday morning, people here in the Tri-Cities are still showing their support for the victims as well as the local community.

Eureka O’Hara, an employee at New Beginnings in Johnson City, said the night club will host a fundraiser Wednesday night, and proceeds from the event will go to benefit the victims of the shooting, as well as the Community Pride Center of the Tri-Cities.

Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays of the Tri-Cities (PFLAG), Helping to Educate Regarding Orientation, Equality, and the Spectrum (H.E.R.O.E.S.) and the Community Pride Center of the Tri-Cities will be on hand to help educate the community to understand the alternative lifestyle.

“We have to come together and protect each other. And we have to be a little more cautious  because this is the largest shooting in American history and it just happened to be an alternative lifestyle establishment. It does put a little fear in us, ” O’Hara said.

The event will take place at New Beginnings Wednesday at midnight.

The event will have a $5 beer bust and a show featuring members of the local LGBTQ community.

To participate in the show, organizers said for participants to be at the club by 11:30 p.m. and in costume.Copyright 2016 WJHL. All rights reserved.
