JCPD: Man arrested following auto burglary investigation

Johnson City Police Department investigators arrested a man on Thursday following an investigation into auto burglary.

According to a JCPD news release, officers received a report of auto burglary at 1107 University Parkway on June 2. The victim’s wallet and credit were reportedly taken from her vehicle and then used at various stores inside Johnson City.

Video footage from one of the stores identified the suspect as Anthony Rene Benbow, 27.

Police issued a warrant for his arrest July 10.

Benbow was later arrested at the Washington County Detention Center where he was being held on unrelated charges.

He was being held on a $12,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court Saturday at 10 a.m.Copyright 2015 WJHL. All rights reserved.
