ION portable speakers recalled due to explosion hazard

Several portable speakers by ION are being recalled because they may explode. 

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the speakers’ batteries may leak hydrogen gas when charging, which can result in an explosion. 

There have been at least five reports of speakers exploding, including four reports resulting in property damage. No injuries have been reported.

The recall involves 41,000 Sport Express, Cornerstone, Cornerstone Glow, and Keystone ION Audio portable speakers.

The speakers were sold online and at various electronics stores across the country, including Best Buy.

Consumers should immediately stop using the speakers and contact ION Audio for a refund in the form of a gift card. You may contact the company at 833-682-0371 or by visiting their website and clicking on “recalls” near the top.
