PIGEON FORGE, TN (WJHL) – The legendary Dolly Parton is 70 years old, but she has the energy of someone half her age.
After 25 years, Dolly Parton is about to launch a 60-city North American tour.
After years of touring overseas, Dolly told News Channel 11 she was unsure if she was still a big enough star to draw in the crowds back home.
“All my fans here said come how now. I said ‘oh, good I’m ready,” said Parton. “I’m hoping we do good crowds.”
The title of her tour is “Pure and Simple”. It’s also the name of one of her new songs.
Dolly told News Channel 11 it was a concept born while doing a show for charity – a paired down performance.
“I said let’s just do it – pure and simple. So I did, and people absolutely loved it. They said that’s the best show you’ve ever done. Take that on the road. So, I decided I would. We don’t have a lot of big sounds and all that not a lot of props. We just go out and sing and tell our stories and that’s basically it. People seem to love it, ” said Parton.
In addition to the big tour, Dolly is planning another event in the next week. She and her husband Carl Dean plan on having another wedding on their 50th anniversary on Memorial Day. They plan on taking pictures of the wedding and selling them for charity.Chasing Rainbows Museum
