BRISTOL, TN (WJHL) – News Channel 11 has learned students at Holston View Elementary were sent home with a letter for parents that said “Holston View’s Principal Jerry Poteat and its Program Assistant Cherith Roberts have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an active police investigation.”
The letter is signed by Director of Schools Gary Lilly, and also said Dr. Kristie Coleman was named Interim Principal at the school.
An investigation is underway in Bristol, Tennessee after allegations of child abuse and neglect.
According to Sullivan County District Attorney Barry Staubus, the allegations stemmed from an incident at Holston View Elementary School. Staubus could not elaborate on the details of the allegations, or identify the suspects in the case.
News Channel 11 reached out to Bristol City Schools and officials told us there was an active investigation going on at Holston View, but they couldn’t elaborate on the details.
