Four separate incidents reported at Hawkins Co. boat ramp

HAWKINS COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – Three separate auto burglaries were reported on the same day at the Tunnel Hill Boat Access in Hawkins County.

According to Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office reports, the three auto burglaries each occurred around 7 a.m. on Aug. 16.

The first auto burglary victim reported to deputies that he put his boat in the water around 7 a.m., returned to his vehicle around 12:30 p.m. and found his front passenger side of his vehicle busted out.

The victim said the glove box was open, but nothing was taken.

The second victim also put his boat in the water around 7 a.m. and came back to his vehicle around noon. He said the left rear passenger window was busted out, but nothing was taken.

Deputies said there was evidence showing that someone had been inside the man’s vehicle.

According to a third HCSO report, a third victim also put his boat in the water around the same time as the first two victims, and returned to his vehicle around noon. He told deputies the mounted toolbox in the bed of his truck was damaged, and said the lid had been pried up in attempt to get inside the box.

The victim said the toolbox was originally unlocked and could be accessed by opening the latches, but nothing was taken from the toolbox.

TWRA was notified and made aware of all three incidents.

Back on Aug. 13 another incident was reported at the Tunnel Hill Boat Access in reference to property damage.

According to the report, a man told deputies when he returned to the boat ramp around 6:15 p.m. he found that three of his tires were flat.

The man said his tires were in good shape when he left and after he inspected his car, he realized his tires had been cut.

No arrests have been made.
