SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA (WJHL) – Firefighters battled three large wildfires in Southwest Virginia this week.

Zach Addington, an area forester, said throughout the week fire personnel battled the wildfires — each spreading over 100 acres. One of the fires reportedly spread over 300 acres where Russell, Buchanan and Dickenson counties meet.

The wildfires were under control at one point, but rekindled.

Addington said the fact that the fire was under control and started back up is suspicious, and said they are now investigating the fires.

No homes or buildings were impacted in the fires.

Addington said the wildfires are now under control.Copyright 2016 WJHL. All rights reserved.
