Elizabethton police cite more people for running new four-way stop

After we raised questions about people running a new four-way stop near the Tweetsie Trail in Elizabethton police returned and caught a few more people breaking the law there.

The Elizabethton Police Department reports officers issued an additional three citations, which brings the total to 20 since August at the intersection of Doe Avenue and Armed Forced Drive.

The city installed a new four-way stop at the intersection four months ago. Since then, with the help of a News Channel 11 viewer, we’ve filmed several people blatantly running the stop signs there.

Officers told us it will take some time for drivers to get used to the change. Police say they are not aware of any crashes at the intersection this year.
