GREENE COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – Baileyton, TN recently celebrated it’s centennial year.  One of the descendants from the original Bailey family has been teaching in Greene County for more than a quarter of those 100 years.

Tim Bailey is in his 27th year teaching in the Greene County system.  He’s the 7th and 8th grade math teacher at Baileyton Elementary School.

He’s been there for 13 years and spent the previous 14 years at North Greene High School.

Bailey says teaching is all he’s ever wanted to do. The chance to influence young people is a dream come true, he says.

“You go to a job that you love. You are surrounded by great people, great teachers, great principals and staff.  it’s just something you enjoy going to each day. Of course, there’s always the kids. I enjoy being around those kids,” said Bailey.

In addition to his teaching duties, Bailey spent more than a decade as a football and baseball coach. He also volunteers with the  Baileyton and North Greene athletic programs.

Congratulations to Tim Bailey. This  week’s Educator of the Week.
