CONCORD, N.C. (WAVY) — Hendrick Motorsports announced on Tuesday that Dale Earnhardt Jr. has not been cleared by doctors and will miss at least the next two races on the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule.
Earnhardt is recovering from a concussion and will not race this weekend at Watkins Glen or the following week at Bristol.
On his weekly podcast, Earnhardt said he continues to experience issues with balance and vision. He has missed the last three races.
Jeff Gordon, who had announced his retirement prior to last season, will fill-in for Earnhardt in the 88 Chevrolet. Gordon also substituted for Earnhardt at Indianapolis and Pocono.Copyright 2016 WAVY. All rights reserved.
