The former owner of a Kingsport restaurant has pleaded “no contest” to two counts of sales tax evasion.

Robert Ranuro, who previously owned Biggie’s on Stone Drive, entered the plea Friday.

Investigators say Ranuro failed to remit sales tax and liquor-by-the-drink tax money collected from customers.

The case was investigated by the Tennessee Department of Revenue.
