Arkansas man accused of abducting woman from Johnson City business


Police say an Arkansas man is behind bars after he abducted a woman from a Johnson City business. 

Johnson City police investigated a report that a woman was abducted from a business on the east side of town.

Investigators identified Matthew Dewbre, 34 of Fort Smith, as the suspect. 

Johnson City police say, with help from the Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office, they located Dewbre and the female victim around 8:30 p.m. The victim was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. 

Dewbre is facing charges of aggravated assault, aggravated stalking, aggravated kidnapping, and violation of an order of protection. He is being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
