BRISTOL, VA (WJHL) – Its full steam ahead at The Falls shopping complex in Bristol, Virginia. Several stores are already open and after Tuesday night’s city council meeting, more buildings for businesses will be built.

City Council members voted to allow developers to move forward with the final steps in phase one.

“This was all about changing the shape of the property to accommodate additional buildings that are getting ready to be built,” Bristol, Virginia Mayor Archie Hubbard said.

What will go inside those new buildings? We asked the Mayor for that answer Tuesday night. His response was, ” Place where you can eat.”

Remaining tight-lipped the Mayor says he’s not giving up names until contracts are signed- that could possibly come later this week.

“Now we are moving beyond those to get things ready for some more hopefully upcoming announcements,” Bristol, Virginia Vice Mayor Bill Hartley said.

As for existing businesses in the falls like Cabela’s, the Mayor says the anchor store has exceeded exceptions.

“They are doing great, I talked to the manager several times and he says we are just selling stuff as fast as we can put it in stock,” Hubbard said.

City leaders are hoping for the same success with future businesses at The Falls The Mayor says he expects an update from developers later this week.Copyright WJHL 2016. All Rights Reserved.
