Church Hill police seek suspect in armed robberies; Surveillance footage released


CHURCH HILL, TN (WJHL) — Church Hill police are searching for the suspect in two armed robberies.

According to the Church Hill Police Department, the first of the armed robberies happened just before 9 o’clock Sunday night at the Quick Stop gas station on East Main Boulevard.

Dispatchers told News Channel 11 that a second robbery happened just before 10:45 p.m. Sunday night at the Dollar General on Carters Valley Road.

At this time , we’re told investigators believe the incidents could be connected.

The Church Hill Police Department’s Twitter page says two suspects could be working together, and they should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police are calling on everyone who has eyes on our broadcast tonight to help them find not just one but two brazen armed robbery suspects who they say may have been working together and are considered armed and dangerous.

The surveillance video shows the gun man running away from the store with money.

Patty Leinbach works across the street from the Quick Stop, we caught up with her at the store Monday. She was surprised to hear about the armed robbery in this typically quiet close knit area.

“I think church hill is a very safe place, relatively safe,” Patty Leinbach

A community shaken by not just one brazen crime but two.

“What we are theorizing is that one young man robbed our store and the other young man robbered the dollar general store in carter’s valley,” Church Hill police chief Mark Johnson said.

Church Hill Police along with investigators from the Hawkins County sheriff’s office have been working non stop to solve these crimes.

Video from area surveillance camera show the suspects parked behind First Baptist church before comitting the quick stop crime.

Police are asking people in the community to be on alert.

“They should be considered armed and dangerous,” Chief Mark Johnson said.

Still some say they are not worried.

“No, I don’t live in fear here,” Patty Leinbach said.

Most people say have faith police will soon bring the bold criminal’s to justice in Hawkins County.
