GREENE COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – A Chuckey man faces an attempted first-degree murder charge, after Greene County Sheriff’s Office deputies said he shot a person in the head during an argument Saturday.
According to a Greene County court affidavit, deputies responded to a call about a shooting in the 200 block of Fish Pond Road, where they located Kendrick Estepp on the side of the road in front of a home with a gunshot wound to his head.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office report said other people were providing aid to Estepp when deputies arrived.
According to the report, Roger Dale Burgner was in the nearby area and said he was the shooter. Deputies then collected the firearm from Burgner
The court document said Roger Dale Burgner had left his home on Fish Pond Road armed with a .380 caliber Glock handgun, when he confronted Estepp approximately 100 yards from his home.
Burgner and Estepp reportedly got into an argument.
In the affidavit, Burgner admitted to pulling his gun and shooting the victim in the head.
Estepp was taken to Johnson City Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
Burgner was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder. His bond was set at $275,000.Copyright 2016 WJHL. All rights reserved.
