CDC’s update on E. Coli beef outbreak says TN has 52 reported cases, KY has 65

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released an update on the beef E. coli outbreak that occurred earlier this month and Tennessee now stands at 53 reported cases. 

In total, there are currently 177 reported cases across 10 states, resulting in 21 hospitalizations. No deaths have been reported. 

The last CDC report saw fewer numbers; the growth in reported cases has grown by less than 30 overall.

Kentucky has 65 reported cases – the most of all the other states currently affected. The initial outbreak of the E. coli infection was shrouded in mystery, reaching six states at first.

According to the new report, there are now 10 states with reported cases, many in the South: Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia.
