BEECH MOUNTAIN, NC (WJHL) – Police in Western North Carolina want to know who broke into the “Land of Oz” theme park at Beech Mountain.
Beech Mountain Police said the suspects got into the park illegally on Thursday, after they were spotted on the park’s surveillance cameras.
Investigators said the suspects ran after they bused open the door to Dorothy’s House and set off an alarm.
Beech Mountain’s police chief said despite popular belief, the theme park is not abandoned.
Police are treating this case as a break-in and vandalism.

Detectives told News Channel 11 that in the past 18 months they have been investigating at least 8 cases of someone breaking into the theme park. Two of the cases reportedly involved someone stealing yellow bricks.Copyright 2016 WJHL. All rights reserved.
