WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA (WJHL)- Authorities in Washington County, Virginia tell News Channel 11 that two kayakers found a body in the North Fork of the Holston River on Sunday around 5:00 PM.
The body was located specifically about a mile west of the Route 19 bridge off of Mendote Road in Washington County.
Sheriff Fred Newman says there is reason to believe that the body could be missing Washington County, Virginia woman, Jennifer Rowe. Authorities tell us that clothes on the body appeared to be consistent to what Rowe was wearing when she disappeared.
The body was pulled from the river Sunday evening and is being sent to Roanoke for an autopsy. Sheriff Newman says they are hoping to have a positive identification on the body sometime after 12:00pm on Monday.
Rowe was last seen walking back to her home in the North Fork River Road section of Washington County on December 3rd 2015.Copyright 2016 WJHL. All rights reserved.
