BMS honors Jeff Gordon with own grandstand

BRISTOL (WJHL) – This weekend may be his final run at Bristol Motor Speedway, but NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon will always have a place at the world’s fastest half-mile.

In honor of his last time driving at BMS, Gordon was honored with a grandstand of his very own during a news conference Friday afternoon.

BMS Executive VP and General Manager Jerry Caldwell presented Gordon with “Jeff Gordon Terrace,” which will be a fixture at the speedway in 2016.

“Bristol Motor Speedway plays so many roles in the industry and in our guests’ lives,” Caldwell said. “It’s a battlefield. It’s home, two or three times a year, to thousands of guests, some of whom have been coming here for generations. And it’s a monument to the legends of NASCAR.”

“As Jeff Gordon makes his last full-time run here, we can’t think of a better way to recognize him than to place him among our ranks of champions who have dedicated their lives to racing excellence,” Caldwell said.

He added that BMS wants “to honor Jeff for his contribution to our sport, and we look forward to his continued presence in the industry. ‘The Jeff Gordon Terrace’  will be a great reminder of everything he’s accomplished and all that he’s done for his fans.”
