BRISTOL, VA (WJHL) – Community members in Bristol, VA gathered Saturday to show support for Debbie Watts, who was injured in the Volunteer Parkway shootings in July.

El Shaddai Church and Marsh Regional Blood center set up a blood drive to benefit area hospitals and cancer centers. Dozens came out to donate blood in Watts’ honor and to support her family.

Connie Denton grew up with Debbie and helped organize the drive, she said Debbie is doing very well and is in good spirits.

“She’s doing great, remarkable, she’s still doing a little bit of health problems going on, she does have one surgery scheduled upcoming but Debbie is doing fantastic. She wanted to share her love and what the lord has done for her,” Denton said.

The blood collected will go to Marsh’s processing center in Kingsport to then be spread out to 16 regional facilities where it is most needed.Copyright WJHL 2016. All rights reserved.
