Benjamin Shook pleads guilty to federal charges in 2015 teen kidnapping

GREENE COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – The man accused of kidnapping a 14-year-old Hawkins County girl admitted his guilt Tuesday and could now face life in prison.

Benjamin Shook, a convicted sex offender, originally pleaded not guilty to the five counts against him, his trial was set to start June 7th.

42-year-old Shook sparked a multi-state Amber Alert in 2015. Investigators said Shook used the internet to lure the teenager from her home and disappeared for two weeks.

Tuesday Shook pleaded guilty to the five charges against him including kidnapping, transporting a minor for illegal sexual activity, and failing to register as a sex offender.

Shook faces a minimum of 25 years and a maximum of life in prison.
