Water restrictions remain in effect for residents of Beech Mountain, but town officials hope to reduce those restrictions this weekend.

The town is still under “level 4 water restrictions” and a boil water advisory. Pregnant women, infants, and children are advised to drink bottled water only. Officials are asking residents to only use water for flushing toilets.

According to a release Saturday, officials hope to remove the boil water advisory and go to voluntary reductions by Sunday afternoon.

In the meantime, water will be distributed Saturday at town hall, located at 403 Beech Mountain Parkway, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The YMCA in Linville will allow people to use its shower facilities from 7 a.m. through 7 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. through 7 p.m. Sunday.

The town issued water restrictions earlier this week after a diver became stuck underwater at the Buckeye Reservoir, which had to be drained in order to rescue the trapped diver.
