Bean Station attempted murder suspect arrested in Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WATE) – A man wanted for attempted murder in Bean Station was arrested early Thursday in Cleveland, Ohio.

Jerry Smith, 73, was wanted for attempted murder and possession of a firearm during a felony. Bean Station police said on January 6, Smith fired a shotgun at the victim on a houseboat on Cherokee Lake with the intention of killing him.Previous story: 1 shot, Bean Station police investigate person of interest

Investigators later learned Smith had plans to travel to Cleveland and the U.S. Marshals’ Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force began investigating. He was located at a hotel in Cleveland where Smith was taken into custody.Copyright 2016 WATE. All rights reserved.
