Assistant district attorney rescued from Haywood County, NC trail still in recovery


WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – The Tri-Cities Assistant District Attorney who went missing after a weekend hike remained in the hospital Thursday evening.

District Attorney General Tony Clark told News Channel 11 that Julie Hays is still in recovery, but is doing well.

Dozens of state and local agents helped bring Hays to safety early Tuesday morning.

Hays spent more than two days in the woods of Haywood County, N.C. injured and in need of help.

Clark said Hays suffered a dislocated shoulder, a foot injury and several bruises.

Clark said he spoke with her family Wednesday, who said they are thankful and relieved.Copyright 2015 WJHL. All rights reserved.
