AAA offers free Tow to Go service to drivers to prevent DUI

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – AAA will offer a service to drivers to prevent driving while under the influence. According to the company, Independence Day is one of the deadliest holidays in the year. In 2014, 164 people were killed due to DUI during the holiday weekend.

“Driving will already be a challenge with more motorists on the road this weekend than ever before,” said Amy Stracke, Executive Director of the Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation. “Celebrating safely will help keep impaired driving out of the mix.”

The Tow to Go service is offered to drivers in Tennessee, Florida and Georgia. Drivers and their cars will be transported within a 10-mile radius to a safe location, says AAA. The program is available to anyone for free, even if a person is not an AAA member and is confidential.

“The Tow to Go program is an effective way to promote the use of Designated Drivers and help prevent impaired driving,” said Katja Zastrow, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility for Anheuser-Busch. “We are proud to partner with AAA and their roadside assistance drivers to help keep our roads safe.”

The program starts Friday and will end on Tuesday at 6 a.m. To use the service call 855-286-9546
