A Mexican drug lord escapes a maximum security prison for the second time

MEXICO, (WJHL) –  A Mexican drug lord has escaped from prison for a second time.

The first time he escaped he was on the run for thirteen years.

Now the manhunt for Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman is back on.

El Chapo escaped Saturday night from a maximum security prison.

Authorities believe he used an elaborate underground tunnel for the escape.

According to officials the tunnel runs thirty-five feet underground from a house under construction a mile away.

Officials say that El Chapo accessed the tunnel just below a shower inside his prison cell.

Mexico’s President is vowing authorities will recapture El Chapo.
