ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL) – An Elizabethton elementary school is coming together this weekend for the 4th annual Race for Wandell.
Dr. Josh Wandell was the principal of East Side Elementary School in Elizabethton form 2007 to 2015 until he was diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
The only 3K certified race in Tennessee and his colleagues say it’s a special day for the community.
“ALS is a nasty disease and there’s no other way to say that, but through his spirit, his faith, he’s a very positive upbeat person,” librarian TJ Brown said.
All proceeds go directly towards Wandell and his family.
The 3K competitive race starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, with a fun run and walk at 10:30 a.m.See also: Dr. Josh Wandell on life 3 years after ALS diagnosisCopyright 2016 WJHL. All rights reserved.
