3 arrested in Smyth County traffic stop turned drug bust

The Smyth County Sheriff’s Office says a traffic stop led to three arrests and the discovery of a large amount of methamphetamine.

According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy pulled over a vehicle Wednesday and found 2 ounces of meth and a handgun. 

The driver, 25-year-old Ashley Langley of Saltville, and the passenger, 39-year-old Audria Chandler of Marion were arrested. 

After finding the drugs, the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant at Langley’s home on Tobacco Road in Saltville. Inside, they found 36-year-old Jerada Henderson of Georgia, about a pound of meth, and another handgun, according to the sheriff’s office.

Henderson was arrested following the search. 

Langley was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Schedule I or II with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance while in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Chandler was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance while in Possession of a Firearm.

Henderson was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, Conspiracy to Distribute a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, Transporting into the Commonwealth with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance while in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

All three are being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon without bond. Additional charges are pending.
