ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL) – A 10-year-old’s gesture brought a mother to tears in Elizabethton Sunday afternoon.

Rachel Merryman told us her daughter Kaylee is a 4th grader at East Side Elementary school in Elizabethton.

On Sunday, she asked if she could set up a kool-aid stand in the front yard.See also: Community members run for former Elizabethton principal’s fight against ALS

Once Kaylee made a few dollars, her mother asked what she wanted to do with the money.

Rachel told us she figured she wanted to keep the money for herself, but Kaylee told her she wanted to give all the money she raised to her former principal, Dr. Wandell.

Dr. Josh Wandell was diagnosed with ALS in 2013, and continues to fight the disease.

Around 3pm Sunday Kaylee’s mother said she already had to run back to the store to get more kool-aid because so many people were stopping by to grab a cup and donate to Dr. Wandell.
