CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - News Channel 11 has learned one person is dead following a head-on crash in Carter County Sunday evening.
The two-car collision happened around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 19E ,not far from the intersection of Simerly Creek Road.
Tennessee Highway Patrol reports a 1991 Honda Accord traveling north on 19E crossed the center line and struck a 2003 Saturn head-on.
The passenger in the Saturn, a teenager, died in the crash. The passenger has been identified as 17-year-old Brandi Thompson, of Roan Mountain.
Another passenger in the Saturn suffered injuries as well as the driver of the other car.
The posted speed on that section of roadway is 55 miles per hour.
