Security plan in the works for upcoming Trump rally in Johnson City

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -  It's not every day that the Leader of the Free World visits the Tri-Cities.

On Monday, October 1, President Donald Trump will hold a Make America Great Again rally after Freedom Hall in Johnson City.

That mean's security planning is now in the works. Law enforcement, emergency teams, airport officials and Johnson City School leaders are all in the process of making plans for his visit.

Local agencies are working with Secret Service officials and they tell us they are not quite ready to reveal exactly how they are preparing.

They told us to expect road closures and possible airport delays.

The Presidential visit could also impact operations at Science Hill High School and Liberty Bell. That's because the schools are located near and use Freedom Hall facilities.

News Channel 11 reached out to our local Department of Homeland Security and they told us:

While we cannot comment on the specifics of protective operations we can tell you that the Secret Service will work with our law enforcement partners, at the federal, state, and local level, to develop and implement a security plan that maximizes the protection for the President and limits the impact to the general public.

Count on News Channel 11 to continue to work to find out just how President Trump's visit will impact your daily routine. We'll post updates right here on wjhl.com and will have video reports beginning on the news at 5:00 p.m.

Tickets to the rally event can be obtained by clicking this link and filling out the form. Only two tickets will be issued per mobile number. All tickets are subject to a first come, first serve basis.
