Political unrest in Haiti prevents Greene County women from returning home

HAITI (WJHL) - Policial unrest and protests are preventing the group from returning home.
Kori Smith is a student at the University of Tennessee. She, along with Alicia Phillips, is from Greene County.

The women went with a group from Light of Life Missions --a mission group based in Georgia-- to Haiti to help an orphanage with more than fifty children.

Now, the women say they're just trying to find a way back home.

Violent protests over fuel prices have forced flight cancellations and have caused the group to become stranded.

"We weren't able to even go about a hundred yards up the road either way without running into roadblocks the people have made and stuff like that to keep Haiti from moving to get the government's attention," said Kori Smith.
Smith says her mission group is safe are currently staying in the orphanage.
