Johnson City man arrested; charged with 6 counts of auto burglary

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) - A Johnson City man is under arrest following an investigation by Johnson City police after a series of auto burglaries Thursday night. 

Johnson City police say they arrested Adam Franklin Stephens, 23, of Johnson City and charged him with 6 counts of auto burglary, 1 count of theft over $1,000 and two counts of theft under $1,000. 

According to police, an investigation was opened after a series of auto burglaries throughout Johnson City Thursday morning. One of the victims followed Stephens until police arrived.

Johnson City police say they found a large amount of stolen property in Stephen's truck. The property was linked to 6 auto burglaries. More charges are pending. 

Adam Stephens is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on two warrants for a total bond of $50,000. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for Friday, August 10, at 10:30 a.m.
