JCPD: New York man arrested in Johnson City after making threats

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) - Johnson City police have arrested a man from New York after a search this afternoon near the Tree Streets. 

Investigators say Marcus Anthony Cardwell, 20, has been charged possession of a firearm with altered serial number, evading arrest (2 counts) and resisting arrest.

According to police,  officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Wilson Avenue around 2 p.m. regarding a threats call.

The victim stated to dispatchers that Cardwell had threatened to shoot at them over a previous dispute and was pacing back and forth in front of the residence.

Upon arrival, police say Cardwell fled from officers on foot. An investigation revealed that Cardwell had obtained transportation away from the area and a vehicle description was obtained.

The vehicle was located in the Keystone Community and Cardwell was observed by officers as a passenger. A traffic stop was performed and Cardwell fled from the vehicle on foot and resisted arrest while being taken into custody.

Cardwell is being held at the Washington County Detention Center without bond.
